Doppelgänger

by Lisa

I remember when I was about 12, my cousin Ryan said he'd just seen a movie with a young girl in it who he swore looked *exactly* like me. He told me about it several times because he couldn't get over how uncanny the resemblance was.

I don't have many old pictures of myself, so the best I can do is this small one my Aunt Ramona posted on FB.

And here is one of my--at the time--Doppelganger.

It's weird because as I look at pictures of her from that movie, there are actually some similarities. But our looks haven't seen much overlap since. One of us grew up to look like this:

And that other grew up to look like this:

Yeah. It's safe to say after age 12, I haven't had many people stop me to tell me I look exactly like Scarlett Johansson. To be honest, I wouldn't mind looking like her, but I wouldn't trade lives with her in a million years. I'm so grateful for the values I've learned that have taught me how to have true happiness. Because the way the world defines happiness (fame & fortune) are fleeting.

A week from now, Scarlett will undoubtedly be looking gorgeous in a stunning designer gown, walking down the red carpet for the Academy Awards, one of most prominent award ceremonies in the world. I, on the other hand, will undoubtedly be sitting at home, gaining more stretch marks by the minute, and reading my new book, "The Diaper Diaries: The Real Poop on a Mom's First Year." But several weeks from now, I have no idea what Ms. Johansson will be doing, hopefully something that brings her happiness. But I know exactly where I'll be and I wouldn't trade it for all the Oscars, beauty, and money in this world. I'll be kissing my new baby's little toes and feeling so overwhelmed with gratitude for my amazing husband who loves me unconditionally and my Savior who makes true joy possible. Cheesy, but true.

Love this Lisa. And love you! (and for what it is worth, I do see a resemblance between you and Scarlett). :-)

I loved reading this. What a neat perspective on life, and you're so right- motherhood is the best thing and I, too, wouldn't trade it for the world. I know you'll be amazing at it. So excited for you!

Lisa I think you're beautiful. And you're right, you will be a mom so soon and a great mom. And that's just about the most important thing you can be. I'm so excited for you to see your little one soon.

First of all, you are way prettier than Scarlett JoHansen... seriously, no one rocks a pregnant belly like you do. You look stunning!!!

And secondly, amen to all you are saying above. I agree completely (except I'm not going to be kissing a babies toes in a few weeks, but you get it).
